No. 10 UW-River Falls crushed the visiting UW-Oshkosh Titans 93-74 at the Karges Center, Saturday afternoon.
Aaron Anderson (Stillwater, MN, Stillwater HS) led River Falls with 19 points on 6-7 shooting. Five Falcons were in double-figures.
The Falcons lead wire-to-wire in this one, scoring first and never relinquishing the lead.
Jake Voeltz (River Falls, River Falls HS) picked up right where he left on Wednesday scoring six of the first eight for UWRF. River Falls built a 16-6 lead in the early going, but were able to push that lead to 21 following a 15-4 run midway through the opening half.
Shane Manor (Altoona, UW-Superior) hit two free throws with just under two minuets remaining the half for the final points and pushed the lead back to 21.
UWO scored the first six points in the second half to trim the lead to 15. But after Anderson sunk two three-pointers it was all but over.
Brady Hannigan (Oakdale, MN, North St. Paul HS) added a third that was preceded by a Greg Schrimpf jumper to give the Falcons their first lead of more than 21.
Minutes later, Anderson missed a three but was fouled and made all his shots at the line, this time extending the lead to 25.
River Falls ran their lead to 31 later in the game and coasted to a 19 point win.
Anderson's 19 tied for the game-high with the Titan's John Flanigan.
Balanced scoring once again for River Falls, five players in double-figures. Manor (17), Voeltz (14),
Jontae Koonkaew (Apple Valley, MN, Apple Valley HS) (10),
Danny Johnson (Stillwater, MN, Stillwater HS) (13).
The Falcons have run their record to 18-2 overall and 11-0 in the WIAC. Thanks to UW-La Crosse winning at UW-Platteville, the Falcons have secured a third place finish in the regular season standings. UWRF will be back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Zorn Arena to take on the UW-Eau Claire Blugolds, 7 p.m. tip-off.
