The Falcon women's hockey team battled to a 2-2 overtime tie against Adrian College on Saturday at Hunt Arena.
The Falcons got the first goal of the game in the first period to take a 1-0 lead.
Breanne Hrabe (New Prague, MN, New Prague HS) scored her seventh goal of the year at 11:58 with the Falcons on the power play.
Brook Story (Warroad, MN, Warroad HS) picked up the assist on the play. The Bulldogs controlled play early in the period but UWRF got back to its game and finished the first 20 minutes with a 13-7 advantage in shots on goal.
The Bulldogs scored the only goal of the second period to tie the game, 1-1. Kelly Salis rip a shot from 25 feet out to put her team on the score board. The power-play goal came at 6:07. The shots were pretty even with the Falcons having an 8-7 advantage.
The third period was a back-and-forth stanza that had the Bulldogs take a 2-1 lead at 7:37. Stacey Kempson scored an unassisted goal to give her team the lead.
But the Falcons came back about seven minutes later to tie the game. While on a 5-3 power play the Falcons scored to make it 2-2 at 14:23.
Kait Mason (Eagan, MN, Eagan HS) scored her sixth goal of the year after the Falcons put on great pressure.
Jessica Thompson (Shoreview, MN, Mounds View HS) and
Emma Nordness (Excelsior, MN, Benilde-St. Margaret's HS) picked up assists on the game-tying goal. The Falcons dominated the third period and finished with an 18-8 advantage in shots on goal.
For the game, the Falcons, ranked No. 2 in last week's USCHO.com poll, had a 44-24 advantage in shots. UWRF finished 2-9 on the power play while AC was 1-3. The Bulldogs were called for 10 minor penalties and the Falcons five.

Cassi Campbell (Anchorage, AK, Toronto Rattlers) stopped 22 shots and is now 7-0-1 this year. AC's Emily Michelin stopped 42 shots is now 7-3-2. Adrian is now 10-5-3 overall and 8-2-3 in NCHA play.
The Falcons, now 15-0-2 overall and 11-0-2 in the NCHA, will play Adrian in the second game of the series on Sunday at Hunt Arena. The puck drops at 12:05 p.m.
