Katie Flanagan (Roseville, MN, Roseville HS) and Emma Nordness (Excelsior, MN, Benilde-St. Margaret's HS) each scored goals, but the Falcons lost the second game of a doubleheader against Lake Forest College on Saturday afternoon, 4-2.
The Falcons skated to a 5-1 victory on Friday night, but got bested on Saturday thanks to two second period goals and two more in the third by the Foresters.
Melissa Deardorff (Anchorage, AK, Anchorage North Stars), riding a hot streak, was in net once again for the Falcons. Stacey Dierking, who came in at the beginning of the second period on Friday night, started for Lake Forest.
The first period was quiet as both teams were held off of the scoreboard and the Falcons committed three penalties that Lake Forest was not able to take advantage of.
In the second period the scoring began as the Foresters got on the board first on a goal from Mira Trebilcock just 4:27 into the period. Kim Herring and Sarah Gilbride assisted her and Lake Forest took a 1-0 lead.
The Falcons answered a little over one minute later when Katie Flanagan netted her sixth of the season at 5:47. Allie Olson (Monticello, MN, North Wright County HS) and Emma Nordness assisted the goal and it tied the game at 1-1.
Lake Forest answered back at 16:26 when Mira Trebilcock found Kim Herring who put the puck past Deadorff and gave the Foresters a 2-1 lead at the end of the second period.
The Falcons would answer and tie the game up at the beginning of the third period when Emma Nordness took a pass from Kait Mason (Eagan, MN, Eagan HS) and put the puck past Dierking. The goal was Nordness' 7th of the year and it tied the game up at 2-2.
Lake Forest then took advantage of their scoring chances starting at 9:57 in the third period. Jenn Caldwll netted her third goal of the year and Erin Shamley got the assist as Lake Forest took a 3-2 lead.
The Foresters put one more past Deardorff at 11:34 when Sarah Gilbride scored with assists from Morgan Pope and Laura Reckenwald. The goal would put Lake Forest up 4-2.
The Falcons made a push to come back in the third and pulled Deardorff, but the two goal climb was too much as Lake Forest prevailed 4-2.
Heather Horgen (Grand Rapids, MN, Grand Rapids HS), Katie Batters (Champlin, MN, Champlin Park HS), Brook Story (Warroad, MN, Warroad HS), and Judy Daleiden (Blaine, MN, Blaine HS) each had four shots on goal. Darion Bruyere (Sagkeeng First Nation, MAN, Pursuit of Excellence Hockey Academy) had three shots on goal and a number of Falcons had two.
UWRF outshot Lake Forest 37-21 overall. The Falcons lead the shot tally 8-6 in the first, 13-10 in the second, and a whopping 16-5 in the third period.
Each team scored a power play goal, but struggled throughout on the power play. The Falcons were 1-5 on the power play and Lake Forest finished with a 1-6 mark.

The loss was just Deardorff's second of the season as she drops to 7-2 overall. Dierking improves to 5-2-1 on the season.
The Falcons will return to Hunt Arena on Wednesday, January 18th to faceoff against the current #6 Amherst College at 7:05 p.m.
