Courtney Preiner finished with 16 digs to set a Falcon career record and help UWRF to a 3-0 win over Augsburg on Saturday afternoon at the Karges Center.
UWRF won the three sets, 25-18, 25-22 and 25-19 to improve to 16-6 on the year.
Preiner, who has been named the team's Defensive Player of the Year the past three seasons, needed 15 digs to set the record in today's match and she reached that total about midway through the third set. She now has 1,991 career digs. Preiner broke the record held by Kelsey Scheele who finished her career with 1989 digs. Scheele played for the Falcons from 2006-09.
The Falcons hit much better in today's match compared to Friday's match at UW-Stevens Point where they lost, 3-0, and hit just .099. Today the Falcons hit .224. The Falcon defense finished with 10 total team blocks.
Erin Green led the offensive thrust with 14 kills and a .211 hitting percentage, She had had a solid game at the net finishing with one solo and five block assists.
Jean Theis was also a threat up front. She finished with 11 kills and had a team-best .526 hitting percentage. She finished with one solo and two block assists.
Mackenzie Suda led UWRF with 33 set assists. She also had four kills, eight digs and two block assists.
Abbey Schmidtman added 13 digs and
Danielle Gibbemeyer, who had four kills, had 12 digs and two block assists.
Brianna Muetzel, who finished with three kills, had three digs, one solo block and three block assists.
The Falcons will next play a WIAC match at UW-Stout on Wednesday with action starting at 7 p.m. UWRF is 3-1 in WIAC play.
