Carlin Bunting (Cottage Grove, MN, Hastings) scored her fourth goal of the season and Alyssa Manor (Stillwater, MN, Stillwater) scored her fifth as the Falcon soccer team defeated St. Scholastica, 2-1, on Tuesday afternoon at Ramer Field.
In the first half, the Falcons outshot the Saints, 12-8, but both teams tallied goals.
At 17:06, St. Scholastica got on the board when Andrea Beatt scored unassisted. The goal was Beatt's 13th of the year and it put the Saints up, 1-0.
Just under four minutes later, at 20:56, Bunting scored unassisted for UWRF to tie the game at 1-1.
Both teams were held scoreless the rest of the half and the game was tied, 1-1, at halftime.
In the second half, the Falcons outshot the Saints once again, 6-5, and scored and early goal that turned out to be the difference in the game.
Early in the half, at 49:48, Manor took a pass from Cassie Stang (Stillwater, MN, Mahtomedi) (Stillwater, MN, Stillwater) and scored to give the Falcons a 2-1 lead that would be enough for the win.
The Falcons outshot the Saints, 18-13, overall in the game. Bunting and Janae Baron (Hermantown, MN, Hermantown) (Stillwater, MN, Stillwater) each had three shots.
Saints goalie Kelsey Reeves registered 13 saves. Falcon goalie Becca Kramer (St. Michael, MN, St. Michael-Albertville) had two saves.
UWRF improves to 6-6-1 overall with the victory. St. Scholastica falls to 8-4-1 overall after the loss.
The Falcons will play Eau Claire at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13 at Ramer Field.
