Box Score The UW-River Falls women's hockey team tied UW-Eau Claire 1-1 Friday night at Hunt Arena. UWRF trailed the majority of the game but was able to tie the game late in the third period off of an
Alyssa Black goal.
Both goalies played strong with UWEC goalie Paige Turner recording 31 saves and UWRF goalie
Ashley Kuechle recording 21. Kuechle now has 57 saves in three starts this season.
UWEC scored the only goal of the first period. The goal was scored by Abbie Hawthorne and assisted by Emily Haluska and Casey McMullen at 15:49.
The second period was scoreless despite 23 shots by UWRF up to that point and 13 shots by UWEC.
The Falcons' special teams played strong in the third period. Early in the period they stopped a UWEC five-on-three opportunity. Black then added a power play goal at 11:29 into the period off of the
Amanda Ryder and
Megan Juricko assist. This was Black's third goal of the year. This was also the first point of the year for both Juricko and Ryder.
Alyssa Jackson had a shot go off the goal post late in the overtime period but neither team was able to break the tie.
UWRF out-shot UWEC 32-22 in the game.
Katie Batters led the way with six shots and now has 20 shots on the season.
UWRF now moves to 3-1-1 on the season and UWEC moves to 1-5-1.
These two teams will face again Saturday at UWEC with the puck set to drop at 7 p.m.
