Men's Basketball Cruises to Win Over St. Scholastica

The Falcons improved to .500 on the season with a decisive 69-43 victory over St. Scholastica in the first round of the Superior Classic.
 
It was another strong performance by the Falcons, limiting the Saints to just 30-percent shooting and 43 points. The 43 points is the fewest scored by St. Scholastica in the previous 29 games and the 30-percent shooting is the third lowest against the Falcons in the previous five years.
 
David Stanley set a Falcon career high with 19 points, while Arik Smith added 13 points, seven rebounds, three steals, two blocks and two assists.
 
After a missed layup by the Saints, Smith grabbed the rebound before hitting a three at the other end to open up scoring 3-0 and the Falcons would never trail.
 
The Falcons dominated on the glass, out-rebounding the Saints 50-26 while putting in 13 second chance points.
 
Ollie White had a game-high eight rebounds along with six points, two assists and a block. UT Udo had six boards, including three on the offensive end. Udo also had five points, two assists and a steal.
 
Holding a 32-20 edge at halftime, the Falcons pulled away in the second half behind 46-percent shooting in the final 20 minutes.
 
Zach Peterrson came off the bench scoring all eight of his points in the second half while pulling down four rebounds.
 
Tomorrow the Falcons are back in action against Concordia-Moorhead in the first ever meeting between the two schools. Tip off is at 3 p.m., in Superior, Wis.
