Men's Basketball Gets Big Come-From-Behind Win

Falcons Rally From 16-point Deficit to Win in OT

David Berthene hit a three-pointer as time expired in regulation sending the Falcon men's basketball team into overtime against Concordia-Moorhead on Sunday afternoon. The Falcons went on to win 90-84 for their second consecutive victory.
 
With just 5:50 to play, the Falcons were staring at a 16-point deficit before hitting eight of their next nine shots on part of a 23-7 run. David Stanley made a three-pointer with 16 seconds to play to cut the lead to 71-69. A quick foul put the Cobbers at the line shooting two. Andrew Martinson made one-of-two, keeping it a one-possession game at 72-69.
 
The Falcons called a timeout with six ticks left in the game before Stanley got the ball to Berthene who hit the game-tying three, sending the Falcons to their first overtime game of the season.
 
Taylor Peterson opened overtime with a three-pointer to put the Falcons up for good as they never trailed in in the extra session.
 
The game saw eight lead changes and was tied five times throughout the contest, with the largest lead at 16 points.
 
Four Falcons scored in double-figures with Ollie White leading the charge with 18 points. White had seven rebound and two assists while making 11-of-17 free throws.
 
UT Udo put in a career-high 17 points along with eight rebounds, a pair of assists and a steal. Zach Peterson also had a career-high with 16 points. Both Udo and Peterson were apart of 39 points scored by the Falcons bench in the victory.
 
Berthene was the other Falcon with double-figures at 11 points. Arik Smith and Stanley had eight apiece.

"This was just a great come-from-behind win," said Falcon Coach Jeff Berkhof. "A lot of players sparked the rally and contributed throughout the game to help us get the win."
 
The win improves the Falcons to 3-2 on the season as they head into conference play. The Falcons open WIAC play with their home opener on Saturday as they welcome Platteville. Tipoff is 3 p.m., on Saturday at the Karges Center.
