Hannah Danke and Alyssa Manor both scored second half goals as the Falcons defeated Bethel University, 3-1, on Sunday afternoon at Ramer Field.
The first half was a back and forth battle as the teams were scoreless through the first 30 minutes.
It was the Falcons who would break the scoreless tie in the 30th minute when Delaney Marier (Hastings, MN, Hastings) scored her second goal of the season. The goal was assisted by Carlin Bunting (Cottage Grove, MN, Hastings) and Hanna Danke (River Falls, WI, River Falls).
The 1-0 Falcon lead would not last long as Bethel's Jessica Huseby would answer at 32:39 to tie the game at 1-1. Emma Blanchard was credited with the assist.
Both teams were kept off the scoreboard for the rest of the half as they went into halftime tied 1-1.
The Falcons would then strike twice in the middle of the second half to take the lead and never look back.
Danke scored her second goal of the season at 55:51 to give the Falcons the lead back, 2-1. Anna Kouba (Lino Lakes, MN, Centennial) and Sydney Kolnberger (South St. Paul, MN, South St. Paul) recorded the assists.
Just under three minutes later, Kolnberger found Alyssa Manor (Stillwater, MN, Stillwater) who struck from 20 yards out to give the Falcons a 3-1 lead.
The UWRF defense and goalie Becca Kramer (St. Michael, MN, St. Michael-Albertville) then turned away eight Bethel shots in the final 30 minutes to seal the Falcons second straight victory.
Kramer finished with 11 saves in the game. Bethel goalie Kathryn McGaffey saved six shots.
The Falcons attempted 16 shots on goal and the Royals attempted 19 shots.
UWRF improves to 3-3 overall with the victory and Bethel falls to 2-4 overall.
The Falcons will return home on Wednesday, September 19 to open up WIAC competition against UW-Superior at 4p.m.
