The women's volleyball team split a pair of matches on the final day of the St. Norbert Tournament. UWRF started with a 3-1 loss to Carthage College, before bouncing back and easily defeating Finlandia 3-0.
Against Carthage the games scores were 22-25, 25-17, 17-25 and 18-25.
Erin Green (Fridley, MN, Fridley) led the offensive attack with 10 kills.
Jean Theis (Shakopee, MN, Shakopee) and
Kaylee Jacobs (Glenwood, MN, Minnewaska) added nine, and
Brianna Muetzel (Oakdale, MN, Cretin-Derham Hall) eight.
Mackenzie Suda (Ham Lake, MN, Blaine) had 32 set assists throughout the match.
In the second match, UWRF easily defeated Finlandia, 3-0. Game scores were 25-5, 25-10, and 25-11. The first set was the lowest amount of points the Falcons have allowed this season.
Lisa Keppers (Avon, MN, Albany) had a career-high nine kills to lead the Falcon attack. Jacobs added eight and
Rebecca Gasper (New Berlin, WI, West) a career-high four kills for a Falcon team that was well-balanced and took care of the volleyball.
Courtney Preiner (Oakdale, MN, Hill-Murray) had three digs, and is now 35 digs away from being UWRF's all-time leading digger.
Kadie Brooks (St. Charles, IL, East) led the Falcons with a career-high 11 digs.
With the split, the Falcons are now 14-6 on the season. They will return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 3 at the Karges Center where they will take on UW-Superior. The match is set to get underway at 7 p.m.
