Soccer Team Loses Another One-Goal Game

Falcons Lose at Concordia-Moorhead, 2-1

The Falcon soccer team had another close game, and loss, in a 2-1 decision at Concordia-Moorhead on Saturday afternoon.

This is the second straight one-goal loss for the Falcons this year. On Wednesday they lost at Hamline by a 1-0 score. UWRF is now 1-3 overall while the No. 12 ranked Cobbers improved to 2-0-1.

After a scoreless first half, C-M scored twice within two minutes to take a 2-0 lead. Sarah Rounds scored off a shot from the top of the box at 57:49 and just 1:48 later Gina Weiss scored with a shot from about five yards off that went off of Falcon goalie, Becca Kramer and into the net. Annie Marhula assisted on both Cobber goals.

The Falcons never stopped battling and at 67:08 Alyssa Manor scored with a long shot that pulled UWRF to within 2-1. The goal was Manor's team-best third of the year. Manor led UWRF with three shots while Carlin Bunting and Alex Swatloski each had two.

The Falcons were outshot, 21-7, for the game. C-M had seven corners to four for UWRF.

Kramer made six saves in the contest and S-M goalie, Ali Nelson made three saves.

The Falcons will next play at Bethany Lutheran on Tuesday with action starting at 5 p.m.
