Batters Scores Two Goals in 3-1 Win Over St. Thomas

Gefroh Adds Goal, Assist in Victory

Katie Batters scored two goals helping the UW-River Falls Falcons win 3-1 over the St. Thomas Tommies on the road tonight in nonconference action.

The Falcons scored a goal in every period of play and outshot the Tommies in every period. UWRF finished the game with 36 shots on goal. STT finished the game with 17 total shots.

Batters scored her 18th goal of the season when Leah Gefroh found her with an assist at 7:07 into the first period.

Gefroh added another point when she scored at 3:21 into the second period. Dani Buehrer was credited with the assist on the play for her fourth of the season.

The first two periods Alise Riedel played goalie for STT stopping 22 shots and giving up the two goals.

Batters added the final Falcons goal at 6:01 of the third period to give her 19 goals on the season. She was unassisted on the play. Taylor Neisen played in net for STT in the third period and stopped 11 Falcon shots allowing one goal.

Christina Rozeske scored the only goal of the game for the Tommies at 6:56 of the third period. This would be the only goal allowed by Ashley Kuechle who finished the game with 16 saves and now has seven wins on the season.

The Falcons are now 17-4-2 on the season and will have their regular season finale this weekend at home in a series against Lake Forest College. If the Falcons can score one point they will lock up the number one seed for the NCHA play-offs. The first game will be Saturday, Feb. 16, with the puck set to drop at 2:05 p.m.
