The UW-River Falls Falcons won 9-0 over the St. Olaf College Oles in a complete and dominant team effort.
Chloe Kinsel,
Kendal Evenson and
Paige Johnson each contributed four points on the evening while nine players in total contributed to the scoring.
The Falcons wasted no time scoring early in the first period and added another one late in the first period to start the game up 2-0 over St. Olaf. Kinsel scored her sixth goal of the season off assists by
Alice Cranston and Evenson just 2:47 into the game.
Late in the period at 18:27 Evenson scored her first goal of the season with
Karleigh Wolkerstorfer and Johnson each recording assists. UWRF dominated the period with 22 shots on goal while the Oles just managed four. The Falcons had the only penalty of the period but were able to kill the Oles power play opportunity with a stout defensive effort and a solid performance from
Kylie Hommerding who made her first career start for UWRF.
UWRF poured it on in the second period with four goals to move up 6-0 in the game. Wolkerstorfer added to her score sheet when she scored at 7:21 into the period from a Johnson assist.
Dani Sibley notched her fifth assist of the year when she found
Carly Moran at 10:20 for the freshmen's fifth goal in the early season. Kinsel scored her second goal of the day and seventh of the season for the periods only power play goal with
Dani Buehrer and Evenson each getting assists.
Emily Stark scored her first goal of the season with just 3:30 left in the period assisted by Johnson who came into the game with no assists but recorded four on the evening.
The Falcons only allowed one shot the whole entire second period while adding 18 more of their own.
Moran added another goal just over five minutes into the third period assisted by Wolkerstorfer and Buehrer. Wolkerstofer now has four assists and seven points on the season. Cranston completed the victory by adding her third and fourth goals of the season with Kinsel assisting on both to give her four points on the evening and move her to 17 total points on the season and Buehrer assisted on one to give her three assists on the evening and four on the season. Cranston went into double digits on points with 10 now this year.
Hommerding finished with 12 saves in her first career start and shutout. UWRF finished with 51 total shots while going 2-4 on power play opportunities and killed three Ole power plays.
The Falcons head into Thanksgiving break with a 6-2 overall record and will play next on Tuesday, Dec. 2, at the College of St. Benedict with the drop of the puck set for 7:30 p.m.
