Box Score The UW-River Falls Falcons won their first game of the season in impressive fashion beating St. Catherine University 4-0 this afternoon.
The Falcons wasted no time getting on the scoreboard when
Alex Swatloski booted in a long strike for her first goal of the season.
Kayla Windingstad got the assist on the score.
Just over a minute later
Abby Soderholm scored a goal off a direct kick.
Erica Cimoshowski recorded six saves in the shutout but none were more impressive than one she had at the end of the half when she dove in and knocked the ball away from a St. Catherine player who had a one on one opportunity.
At the end of the first half
Carrie Anderson received a nice pass from
Caroline Haen and scored her first collegiate goal.
UWRF recorded seven first half shots while St. Catherine recorded six.
The lone second half goal came from Soderholm who was assisted by both
Jenna Marier and
Kenzie Weisman. The two goal game gives Soderholm three on the season.
The Falcons attempted nine shots in the second half to give them 16 total in the game while St. Catherine had five in the second half and 11 total.
The Falcons have three games this coming week. They will play next Tuesday at Bethany Lutheran College starting at 7 p.m. followed by a game Saturday at the College of St. Scholastica starting at 2 p.m. and will play at home Sunday hosting the University of Minnesota-Morris at 4 p.m.
