Box Score The Falcon women's basketball team lost a 78-49 WIAC game at UW-Superior on Wednesday night.
The Falcons committed 28 turnovers in the game and shot 35 percent from the field, including 17 percent from three-point range. UWS shot 48 percent from the field and almost 43 percent from behind the arc. UWS was charged with just 11 turnovers.
Jessie Van Wyhe led the Falcons with 10 points. She also had two assists and a steal.
Hayley Rau scored eight points while
Richell Mehus and
Taylor Augustine each scored seven.
Kate Theisen and
Taylor Karge each had five rebounds to lead UWRF.
UWS's biggest first half lead was 14 points with 1:33 to play. Brynn Liljander hit a layup to give her team a 30-16 lead. An Augustine layup and a jumper by
Ali Clark got the Falcons to within 10, but UWS added a three-point play with 17 seconds to play to take a 33-20 lead into halftime.
UWS went on a 15-2 run to start the second half and never looked back. UWS outscored the Falcons 45-29 in the second half and improved to 14-5 overall and 8-2 in the WIAC. The Jackets are in first place in the WIAC standings.
The Falcons, now 8-11 overall and 3-7 in WIAC play, will next host UW-Stevens Point on Feb. 4 at the Karges Center with action starting at 7 p.m.
