The third nationally ranked UW-River Falls men's hockey team lost its first game of the 2014-2015 season on the road against the University of St. Thomas Tommies on Friday evening with a final score of 3-0.

Tommies sophomore forward Michael Dockry opened the scoring on an early first period power play at 9:32 with assists to senior defenseman Michael Krieg and junior forward Jordan Lovick. Dockry's third goal of the season beat Milliron (13-1).
Tommies senior defenseman Jeremy Hepler doubled the lead to 2-0 just 31 seconds later with his second goal of the season. Hepler was assisted by sophomore defenseman Johnny Roisum and junior forward Tyler Richter.

Mitch Kontny both had two shots each in the first period. Fielding stopped all six shots he saw. UWRF went 0-3 on the power play in the first, while St. Thomas went 1-2.
The Tommies pushed its lead to 3-0 with a late second period goal from junior forward Bobby Murphy at 14:33. Murphy's second goal of the season came right after UWRF's fifth power play of the game. The assists were credited to Krieg and Lovick.

The third period was scoreless. The shots on goal ended up 18-18. UWRF went 0-6 on the power play, while St. Thomas finished 1-4. Milliron made 15 saves in his first loss of the season, while Fielding stopped all 18 shots in his third shutout of the season.
UWRF drops to 13-1 overall and 5-1 on the road. St. Thomas improves to 6-3-3 overall and 4-0-2 at home. UWRF is still 21-14-1 all-time against St. Thomas.
The Falcons host the ninth nationally ranked Adrian College Bulldogs (based in Adrian, Michigan) at 7:05 p.m. tomorrow. The top 10 matchup will be the first meeting between the two storied programs.
