Box Score STEVENS POINT, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – The sixth ranked UW-River Falls women's hockey team had a big win today against UW-Stevens Point.
The Falcons (3-2-0, 1-1-0 WIAC) won against Stevens Point (5-1-0, 1-1-0 WIAC) today with a slow start in the first period, the Falcons first goal being scored at 17:02 by
Lydia Wagner, assisted by Karleigh. Wolkerstorfer and
Izzy Brosseau. This would be the Falcons only goal of the first period.
In the second period Chloe made an unassisted quick shot to the back of the net at 5:37 leaving the rest of the period scoreless from either team. It was a quiet period but the Falcons were now 2-0 for the game thus far.
Carly Moran broke the quietness of the game in the third period with a goal early on at 2:37 with a nice assist from
Carina Randazzo. Stevens Point found their rhythm scoring their only goal of the day at 14:24.
Chloe Kinsel scored again unassisted late in the third period at 18:43 followed very closely with the Falcon's final goal at 19:12 scored by
Carly Moran with an assist from
Lydia Wagner and
Izzy Brosseau.
Not even causing the Falcons to blink there were four two minute penalties given to
Emily Stark,
Carly Moran,
Jessie Andersen and
Victoria Holman.
Angie Hall got the win for the Falcons having 26 saves on the day. Hall is now 2-2 on the season and 1-1 in the WIAC.
"We played as a team today, yesterday we didn't," said Head Coach
Joe Cranston. "It was a great tean effort today giving Steven's Point their first loss of the season."
Action will resume for the Falcons on Friday the 20
th at UW-Eau Claire, puck will drop at 3 p.m.
