Box Score RIVER FALLS, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – The UW-River Falls women's hockey team took home another win today against UW-Eau Claire 3-1 at Hunt Arena.
The Falcons took on the Blugolds sweeping them in the WIAC conference matchup. Eau Claire (3-3-2) would only score once today against the Falcons (5-2-0).
Chloe Kinsel started the first period off quickly with a prompt goal in the first three minutes of action, assisted by
Taylor Ramthun. For both teams the rest of the period stayed quiet. The Falcons had 14 shots total in the period.
The second period started off slow but
Carly Moran shot in a goal from the front left corner at 19:59 with a smooth assist from
Lydia Wagner. Again, the rest of the period fell silent as the teams battled for the win. The Blugolds outshot the Falcons 9-7 in the second period.
The Blugolds scored first in the third period at 7:07 but the Falcons responded with a goal to the back of the net by
Jillayne Gilbert nearly eight minutes later at 15:01 with a beautiful assist from Jessie Anderson. The Falcons owned the period outshooting the Blugolds 12-5.
There were a great deal of penalties today from both teams but obviously didn't hold the Falcons back, five two-minute penalties were given to
Karleigh Wolkerstorfer,
Izzy Brosseau,
Dani Buehrer,
Taylor Ramthun and
Carina Randazzo.
Chloe Kinsel led the Falcons offensively. She had five shots on the day. The Falcons had a total 33 shots to the Blugolds 17.
Angie Hall got the win in goal with 16 saves. She improves to 5-2-0 on the season.
Next puck drop for the Falcons is this Tuesday November 24
th at Hunt Arena vs. St. Olaf College, action starting at 7:05 p.m.
