Box Score ST. PAUL, Minn. (uwrfsports.com) – The sixth ranked UW-River Falls women's hockey team showed their dominance Friday evening as they took on the Pipers of Hamline University shuting them out 8-0.
The Falcons wasted no time scoring the first goal 19 seconds into the first period.
Karleigh Wolkerstorfer found the back of the next on a goal assisted by Cary Moran and
Lydia Wagner.
In the second period, the Falcons came alive scoring five goals. The first goal came on a power play opportunity 30 seconds in by Falcon forward
Carly Moran. She was assisted by Wolkerstorfer and
Izzy Brosseau.
The Falcon's capitalized on another power play opportunity at 1:26 when
Paige Johnson shot one past the Piper goaltender from the middle back zone.
Chloe Kinsel helped on the assist. Johnson's goal put the Falcons up 3-0.
Yet again the Falcons capitalized off the power play in the second period when
Emily Stark put one in from the dead zone at 5:34.
Amy Auran assisted on the goal. The Falcons lead 4-0.
At 10:08,
Ashley Effertz and
Dani Sibley passed off to
Chloe Kinsel who scored the goal. Her goal extended the Falcon lead to 5-0.
The last goal of the second period came at 12:54 when
Dani Kocina got a pass from
Amy Auran. The Falcons ended the second period up 6-0.
In the third period
Jessie Andersen scored her first goal of the season at 4:03 on a pass from
Victoria Holman and
Jillayne Gilbert.
Chloe Kinsel scored her second goal of the night, an unassisted goal on a short-handed play, after
Ashley Effertz was called for cross-checking.
The Falcons had a total 41 shots on the evening.
Angie Hall got the win in goal. She had a total 13 saves in 40 minutes of play.
Kylie Hommerding got some time between the pipes having 10 saves in 20 minutes.
The Falcons now 1-1-0 on the season head home to Hunt Arena to take on the Royals of Bethel Saturday afternoon. Game time is 2:05 p.m.
