Box Score DE PERE, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – The UW-River Falls men's basketball team fell to Alma College 66-83 in the opening round of the Nicolet Bank Holiday Tournament on Tuesday.
It was a slow first half with the Falcons only scoring 26 points. Alma got on the board right away scoring the first five points. It then became a back and forth battle that saw six tied and four lead changes. The Scots finished out the first half with a 29-22 halftime lead.
In the second half, the Falcons quickly took the lead at 32-31. It was yet again a back and forth battle before Alma went on an 18-3 run that would pull the Scots too far from the Falcons reach.
Senior guard
Jon Christensen led the Falcons with a game-high 21 points. He also had a game-high seven rebounds.
Austin Moldenhauer was the only other Falcon to have double digit points scoring 13. The Falcons shot 38.2 from the floor and 58.3 from the line.
The Falcons advance to the consolation game of the Nicole National Bank Holiday Tournament to face Anderson University who lost day one to the 23
rd ranked St. Norbert. Action starts at 5 p.m.
