Box Score DE PERE, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – The UW-River Falls men's basketball team defeated Anderson University 85-68 in the consolation game at the Nicolet National Bank Holiday Tournament hosted by St. Norberts College.
The first half started out as a back and forth battle between the two teams until the Falcons took full control at the fifteen minute mark. The Falcons put up 39 points, were 12-28 on field goals made and were 9-12 on free throws.
The second half was controlled solely by the Falcons. The closest the Ravens could get was seven points at the beginning of the half. The Falcon offense started with five points. At the eight minute mark, they went on an eight point run that put them up 21 points. The Falcons went on another eight point run to lead by 23 points, the highest differential of the night. Anderson battled along with the Falcons scoring their own eight points to get within 15 but it was not enough. The Falcons held the Ravens off to win by 17 points.
Jon Christensen, who was named to the All-Tournament team, was again the leading scorer for the Falcons. He had 19 points and 10 total rebounds.
CJ Lewis and
Austin Moldenhauer each had 12 points.
Jack Herum led the way defensively. He had a game high 14 rebounds (3 offense and 11 defense).
The Falcons were 26-36 on the line with a 72.2 free throw percentage. They were 25-58 on field goals and shot 43.1 percent.
Conference play will begin for the Falcons when they return to action on Jan. 6
th when they host UW-Oshkosh at Karges Center. Game time begins at 7 p.m.
