Abbie Morris,
Katie Thompson and
Amber O'Connell all homered as the UW-River Falls Falcons topped the UW-Eau Claire Blugolds in the first game of the evening. The Falcons dropped the second game in a 2-1 pitchers dual.
First Game: UWRF 6, UWEC 4UWRF got on board in the top of the first when Morris hit one to left field for her fourth of the season. She is hitting a .374 on the season, which is second on the team. UWEC started off quick with three first inning runs. Thompson kept her strong season going with her team high sixth home run of the season in the third inning to bring in three runs putting the Falcons up 4-3. Thompson is also hitting a .398 this season.
A big triple in the fourth inning tied the game up 4-4. Morris added another RBI in the fifth inning when she singled to bring in O'Connell who sealed the game in the seventh with a home run of her own. O'Connell, Morris and Thompson were the only Falcons to get a hit in the win all with two in the game.
Brooke Lauritzen got the win on the mound going the whole game giving up six hits and just two earned runs. She improves to 7-6 on the season and is pitching a .295 ERA.
Second Game: UWEC 2, UWRF 1UWRF managed just three hits in the loss from Laurtizen, Michelle LaCasse and
Maddie Studnicka. The only Falcon run was unearned when O'Connell made it home on an error.
Morris took the loss on the mound and falls to 8-7 on the season. She pitched the games first 5.1 innings with Laurtizen finishing off the bottom of the sixth.
The Falcons are now 16-14 this season and will next play UW-Oshkosh at home Saturday for their annual Hit for Lupus game.
