HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Putting the pressure on early, the Falcons opened up the scoring on their second shot of the match. Abby Soderholm found the back of the net on a bender from 20 yards out in the third minute of the match. She was assisted by Rachel Windingstad.
  • UWRF would go on to register the next eight shots in the match, three of them being saved with the others going high or wide. On the ninth shot, Kayla Windingstad scored her first goal of the season with an assist coming from Erika Lagoon to make the score 2-0 in the 21st minute.
  • In the 25th minute, starting goalie Erica Cimochowski was subbed out for Amanda LaDue. Cimochowski is now 6-3-2 on the season.
  • UW-River Falls would go on to outshoot the Yellowjackets 17-2 in the first half, and just before the end of the first half, the Falcons took advantage of a handball called on UW-Superior. Soderholm was able to connect on her second penalty kick of the season to give the Falcons the 3-0 advantage at the half.
  • Soderholm has scored on both of her penalty kicks in 2016 and is 100 percent in her career having attempted seven penalty kicks and scoring on all seven.
  • UW-River Falls would start the second half almost as fast as they did in the first half. With three shots on goal in the first three minutes, the Falcons finally put one past the Yellowjackets goalie in the 53rd minute. Rachel Windingstad put her sixth goal of the year past the goalie to give the Falcons the 4-0 advantage. She was assisted by Carrie Anderson.
  • Joining in the scoring in the 58th minute was Anderson. She was unassisted on her seventh goal of 2016 to give the Falcons a 5-0 lead.
  • Kayla Windingstad polished off her best game as a Falcon with her second goal of the game in the 78th minute. She registered five shots on goal in the game. The goal was assisted by Mariah Troje.
  • Troje capped off the Falcons victory with a breakaway goal in the 86th minute. Outrunning multiple Yellowjacket defenders, Troje popped a shot above the goalie to give the Falcons their 7-0 victory.
  • Four different Falcons took part in the shutout victory. Cimochowski registered 25 minutes and 42 seconds. Amanda LaDue finished off the final 19 minutes and 18 seconds of the first half. Haley Crosby played the first 28 minutes and 38 seconds of the second half. Julia Wolf finished the final 16 minutes and 22 seconds for UWRF.
