VIDEO: 13 Different Falcons Score in Home Opener

River Falls, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – 13 different players scored for the UW-River Falls men's basketball team in a rout of visiting Viterbo University. The Falcons outscored the V-Hawks by 16 points in the first half and coasted to a 72-46 victory.

WHAT HAPPENED
  • UWRF stormed out of the gates. The Falcons ran to a 10-2 lead to open the game. Julian Jackson scored six of the points and Garret Pearson scored the other four.
  • Using another run to extend their first half advantage, the Falcons 12-5 run extended their lead to 22-7 with 7:12 to go in the first half.
  • The Falcons would lead by 16 at halftime, their largest lead of the game at that point. In the half, Pearson would score nine points and Devin Buckley added seven points to the 37-21 halftime lead.
  • Shooting 14-28 (50 percent) from the floor in the first half, UWRF had the game firmly in their hands. The team shot 4-12 (33.3 percent) from the three point line and didn't miss a free throw, going 5-5.
  • Alex Herink and Grant Erickson would score the first two buckets of the second half, and extend the Falcons lead to 21.
  • The biggest difference in the game was the opening of the second half with a 17-2 run to bring the Falcons lead up to 31 points with 12:22 to go in the game. In the run the Falcons got points from five different players during the run.
  • The Falcon lead would grow to as much as 32 points in the remaining time against the V-Hawks. UWRF defeated Viterbo 72-46 with every player on the active roster getting minutes during the game.
  • On the night, the Falcons shot 27-55 (49.1 percent) and dropped eight threes on 23 attempts.
  • UWRF scored 31 points off the bench in the game and 30 points in the paint to the V-Hawks 18. UWRF scored 21 points off the V-Hawks 18 turnovers as well.
 
IN-DEPTH LOOK
  • Out of the 13 players to score, Pearson was the leader with 13 points on 4-9 shooting and grabbed two rebounds.
  • Jackson and Booker Coplin would each add nine points for the Falcons.
  • The rest of the Falcons starters combined for 19 points. Herink scored eight, Buckley scored seven and Erickson added four.
  • Clay Seifert led UWRF on the boards in the game off the bench. He grabbed eight boards and scored three points in the game.
  • Erickson added five assists in the game with his four points and collected four rebounds as well.

THE OPPOSITION
  • No V-Hawk player scored in double-figures in the game. Jake Bamke scored the team-high nine points on 3-6 shooting.
  • Jared Fleischmann scored seven points, Connor George and Zach Baker each scored six points for the V-Hawks as well.
  • Viterbo scored 46 points on 17-48 (35.4 percent) from the floor. They sank five three pointers on 21 attempts. The V-Hawks also shot 7-18 (38.9 percent) from the free throw line.
 
LOOKING AHEAD
The Falcons gear up for December with a trip to California. The Lee Fulmer Memorial Classic will be held in Redlands, California on December 2nd and 3rd with games against the University of La Verne and the University of Redlands. The games are set to tip at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. respectively.
