Box Score Mendota Heights, Minn. (uwrfsports.com) – In their first road test of the game, the UW-River Falls men's hockey team fell to St. Thomas by a score of 3-2 in a back and forth game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- UW-River Falls began the game very quickly when the Tommies were called for a penalty just 1:32 into the first period. UWRF would capitalize and score a goal just 45 seconds later. Joe Drapluk scored his second of the year. He was assisted by Mitch Kontny and Michael Lant.
- The Tommies would respond just over two minutes later and tied the game 1-1 with a goal by Michael Dockry, his first of the season. The goal was assisted by Thomas Williams and Johnny Roisum.
- UWRF would attempt the next three shots on the Tommies before Mike Dietrich was called for a holding penalty. The Falcons would technically kill the power play at 12:21, but St. Thomas snuck a goal in at 12:24 by Michael Dockry to take a 2-1 lead. He was assisted by Cullen Willox and Ben Vikich.
- Neither team would score the rest of the first period, nor in the second period despite the Falcons outshooting the Tommies 20-6. Goalie Benjamin Myers would save 20 shots in the period for the Tommies and kept the score 2-1 headed into the final frame. Goalie Alex Okicki would save all six shots in the period as well.
- UW-River Falls would tie up the game in the third period at 12:46 in the period when Mitch Kontny got back into the scoring book with his first goal of the season. He was assisted by Terry Leabo and Ryan Doner.
- St. Thomas would connect on the game-winning goal at 16:39 in the third period with Brett Gravelle. His first goal of the season was assisted by D.J. Jones.
- With just three minutes remaining, the Falcons fired just one shot on goal before pulling their goalie with 1:32 left in the game.
- The Falcons attempted two shots on goal in the remaining time but could not get the tying goal. The Tommies were called for a penalty with 17 seconds left in the game, and the Falcons got one shot off before the buzzer sounded with the Tommies getting the victory 3-2 over UWRF.
- Okicki finished with 16 saves in the game with 19 shots against him in just over 58 minutes of play.
- Mike Fazio lead the Falcons in shots in the game with five. He also won eight out of his 12 face offs. Michael Lant and Joe Drapluk each had four shots in the game. Captain Christian George won 12 of 17 face offs in the game.
THE OPPOSITION
- The Tommies were led in shots by Brett Gravelle with five total in the game. He also won five of his nine face offs. No one else on the Tommies had more than three shots in the game which was Michael Dockry.
- Benjamin Myers saved 40 shots on the night while getting pounded with 42 shots on goal in the game.
- St. Thomas was called for nine infractions for a total of 18 minutes in the box.
LOOKING AHEAD
UW-River Falls will now continue their three game road trip with a game against St. Mary's University (0-1-2, 0-0 MIAC) on November 5
th at 7 p.m. The Falcons last meeting with St. Mary's resulted in a loss by a score of 4-2. UWRF will have their next home game on November 11
th against Hamline University.
