Hancock, Mich. (uwrfsports.com) – The UW-River Falls men's hockey team skated to a 1-0 victory on the road over Finlandia to sweep the season series with the Lions.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Christian George was the only player to get a puck past a goaltender in the game. His second period power play goal was assisted by Ryan Doner.
- Finlandia was able to outshoot the Falcons in the first period with nine shots to eight.
- Each team was called for a penalty in the first period. Both teams had exactly 41 seconds with a man advantage, with both teams slapping two shots on goal.
- In the second period, five penalties were called with UWRF able to obtain the lead on the George goal.
- Finlandia was able to get on the power play twice in the second period, one just being two seconds long, the other lasted two minutes, but the Lions couldn't manage to get a shot on goal.
- After the slow start, UWRF was able to dominate in the second with 15 shots to the Lions three.
- In the third period, with the lead the Falcons were able to sustain pressure on the Lions. 19 shots in the period, but no goals were scored.
- Zach Quinn was faced with holding the small lead in the third period. Stopping three shots in the third period and 15 for the game, Quinn was able to record his second straight shutout.
- UWRF was able to kill three penalties in the game and the special teams were the factor with the power play goal in the second period. The Falcons were 1-6 on the power play.
- Along with his assist, Ryan Doner was able to fire a game-high seven shots, three in the first and third period respectively.
- Michael Lant kept the pressure on again with six shots on goal from his defensemen position. Kyle Gattelaro also added five shots on goal.
- George not only scored for the Falcons, but was able to win a majority of his face offs. 13 of his 19 face offs went in his favor.
- As a team, the Falcons had 42 total shots to the Lions 15.
THE OPPOSITON
- Finlandia would have 15 shots on goal in the game, Andrew Martin was the leader in shots with three.
- The Lions as a team won 30 of the 69 face offs in the game, Kendall Bolen-Porter won the most with nine.
- Finlandia was 0-3 on the power play in the game, and committed seven penalties.
- Alex Rounds saved 41 shots in the game, and helped his team stop six Falcon power plays.

UW-River Falls will now take nearly four weeks off before getting back on the ice in 2017. They will come back with a road match up with Saint John's University (6-4-2, 3-2-1 MIAC) on January 5
