River Falls, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – After overcoming a seven point deficit in the final three minutes, the UW-River Falls women's basketball team was downed via a game-winning layup as time expired to St. Catherine University.

WHAT HAPPENED
- Taylor Paulsrud dropped a three from the corner with 1:10 left in the fourth quarter to tie the game, but the Falcons would not score again and drop their first home game of the season.
- Early in the first, both teams would struggle to keep handle of the ball. The Falcons took an early lead and led by seven points with 5:33 to go in the first quarter.
- St. Catherine would fight back and score seven straight points to tie the game at 11. The Wildcats would have a one point advantage going into the fourth quarter.
- Katie Messman would take the lead back for UWRF with a three to start the second quarter. The Falcons were able to keep pace using three different three pointers, and at the buzzer the Falcons were down 32-28.
- In the second half, the Wildcats would start hot and went up by eight just a minute into the third quarter.
- UWRF would pull within two points, but wouldn't be able to pull within a tie until 1:53 to go in the third quarter when Mikaela Wilson hit a running layup.
- St. Catherine would end the third scoring the final six points of the half including a buzzer beating layup after a steal to take a 51-45 lead into the fourth.
- The Wildcats took a quick double-digit lead in the fourth quarter with the first four points.
- The Falcons would chip away at the lead, but a three pointer with 3:21 to go would put St. Catherine up seven.
- Down the stretch, the Falcons made up a seven point deficit with two big shots by freshman Crystal Pearson to bring UWRF within two.
IN-DEPTH LOOK
- Messman would connect on three of her six attempts from beyond the arc and finished with a team-high 13 points.
- Senior Kate Theisen scored eight points on the night and also added three rebounds.
- Junior forward Taylor Karge would finish with seven points and six assists, seven rebounds, and three blocks.
- The Falcons as a team shot 25-65 (38.5 percent) from the floor, but connected on eight of their 19 three pointers. The eight threes tied the season-high for the team in a game.
- Ali Clark came off the bench and scored six points, and had 11 huge rebounds with six coming on the offensive end.
- The rebound battle was dominated by the Falcons. UWRF had 48 total rebounds to the Wildcats 34.
THE OPPOSITION
- Audra Clark was the leader in the scoring collum with 15 points on 6-11 from the floor. Mari Lee added 14 on an efficient 6-8 and LaShay Holt had 10 points and 11 rebounds off the bench.
- The Wildcats were 23-58 (39.7 percent) from the floor and made three of their eight shots from beyond the arc.
- From the line St. Catherine struggled shooting just 12-22 (54.5 percent) to allow the Falcons to stay in the game.

The UW-River Falls women's basketball game polishes off 2016 with one road game and one game at Karges. Next will be Augsburg College (7-3, 1-3 MIAC) on December 17
th at 1 p.m. UWRF will then come home to host Gustavus Adolphus College (10-0, 4-0 MIAC) at 7 p.m. on December 29
th.
