Game 1 Vs: St. Catherine'sÂ
The UW-River Falls Falcons started off their 2016 season by playing in a Luther Dome game against the St. Catherine's Wildcats. This game was played in the Rochester Regional Sports Dome, in Rochester, Minnesota.

The Falcons fell 8-0 in 5 innings at the hands of a dominating pitching performance by Krista Flugstad, and the Wildcats.

The Falcons were outhit on the day by a tally of 5-1, with
Katie Thompson picking up the lone hit for the Falcons.

Payton Speckel started the game for the Falcons and went 4 and a third innings while taking the loss. Speckel allowed 4 hits and 6 earned runs.

Erin Ralph rounded out the game for the Falcons pitching the final two thirds of an inning. She gave up 1 hit and 1 earned run.

The Falcons played in another Luther Dome game on Saturday, this time taking on Martin Luther College.

Game 2 Vs: Martin LutherÂ
The Falcons defeated Martin Luther College in 5 innings on Saturday afternoon after a strong hitting performance from the Falcons and a poor defensive showing by the Knights.

The Falcons came out swinging when they scored 2 runs off of 4 base hits in the first inning. Scoring for the Falcons were Sarah Sorenson and
Aiyana Ledwein. The Knights had 3 errors in the first inning, which allowed both of the runs to score.

The Falcons broke things open in the top of the second inning when they scored 6 runs off of 6 hits. The Knights had another 2 errors that led to runs for the Falcons. Scoring for the Falcons were
Ali Murray, Sarah Sorenson,
Amber Galloway,
Aiyana Ledwein,
Abby Veloske, and
Shannan Borchardt.

Martin Luther finally got on the board in the bottom of the second when Olivia Knudsen was caught stealing at 2
nd base which allowed Janelle Radue to score. This would be the Knights' only run on the day.

The Falcons struck again in the top of the 5
th inning when Borchardt doubled in
Katie Thompson and
Aiyana Ledwein. These would be the final runs of the game for both teams as the Falcons outscored the Knights 10-1.

Payton Speckel went 3 full innings and gave up 4 hits while striking out 7 batters. Speckel got the win for the game to move her to 1-1 on the season.
Emma Steiner replaced Speckel in the 4
th inning and pitched the final 2 innings. Steiner gave up 1 hit while striking out 1 batter over the final 6 outs of the game.

Amanda Schoch took the loss on the day and gave up 10 hits over 3 innings. She also walked 4 batters.

The Falcons play again on Sunday in another double-header with game 1 being played against Carleton College and game 2 against Gustavus Adolphus.Â
