River Falls, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – The visiting UW-Whitewater Warhawks used a 26-point first quarter and held on for a road win over the UW-River Falls women's basketball 65-54 at Karges Center.

WHAT HAPPENED
- UW-River Falls attempted to climb out of a 14 point halftime hole by shooting 12-29 (41.3 percent) in the second half but ran out of time and fell to the 21st ranked Warhawks.
- The Falcon offense sputtered late in the first quarter which led to an 11-0 run by the Warhawks to end the period up 26-12.
- An 11-1 run to open the second quarter opened up what would be the largest lead of the game at 24 points.
- UWRF scored 11 of the final 13 points of the second quarter to cut the deficit to 16 at the halftime buzzer. The Falcons shot 10-30 (33.3 percent) in the first half.
- In the second half, the Falcons outscored the Warhawks 30-25, and played well offensively with just four turnovers the Falcons cut the lead to 10 points numerous times, but couldn't overcome the slow start to complete the comeback.
IN-DEPTH LOOK
- Taylor Karge scored eight points in the second half and finished with a team-high 13 points in the loss. She also had four rebounds and a block.
- Ali Clark scored 12 off the bench for the Falcons. She added six big rebounds, with five coming in the second half.
- Katie Messman connected a couple of triples in the game and finished with nine points, four assists, five rebounds, and two steals.
- UWRF had the slight edge in the paint in the game outscoring UW-Whitewater 24-20.
- As a team, UW-River Falls shot 22-59 (37.3 percent) from the floor, and made three shots from beyond the three point line.

- Whitewater native Brooke Trewyn was the leader the Warhawks. Finishing with 23 points, she also had five rebounds and three steals.
- Malia Smith was the other Warhawk in double-figures in the game. Finishing with 15 points, she also had four assists, four rebounds, and three steals.
- From the floor, UW-Whitewater shot 23-59 (39 percent) from the floor, and sank six shots from the three point line.
