Stevens Point, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – After a quick first quarter start, the UW-River Falls women's basketball team was outscored 22-6 in the third quarter and dropped their fourth WIAC game of the season.

WHAT HAPPENED
- The Falcons outscored the Pointers 15-11 in the opening quarter, but between the second and third quarters the Pointers outscored the Falcons 41-19 to grow a substantial lead and coasted to the win.
- UWRF used a 9-2 run late in the first quarter to grow a lead of six points with four different Falcons scoring in the run capped off by a Mikaela Wilson and-one.
- UWRF began the second quarter with a nice spurt. The Falcons lead was up to seven after five straight points by Hannah Pignato, but the Pointers stormed back.
- UWSP hung around in the second quarter, but finally regained the lead by scoring the final four points of the period via free throws and took a 30-28 lead into the halftime break.
- The Pointers outscored the Falcons by 16 points in the third quarter, and would enter the fourth quarter with a lead of 52-34.
- In the fourth, the Falcons outscored the Pointers 14-12, but could not muster one last run to get back into the game.
IN-DEPTH LOOK
- Taylor Karge was the leading scorer for Falcons with 15 points on 7-12 shooting. She also gobbled up six rebounds and had three assists, one block, and a steal.
- Kate Theisen scored eight points for UWRF on 4-7 shooting and Hannah Pignato and Ali Clark scored six each.
- UWRF shot 20-45 (44.4 percent) from the floor in the loss. UWRF scored most of their points in the paint with 26, and got 14 points from their bench.
THE OPPOSITION
- UW-Stevens Point was led by Lauren Anklam with 18 points. She shot 6-11 from the floor and knocked down a pair of three pointers.
- Autumn Hennes scored 15 for UWSP and shot 7-11 from the field. The Pointers top five scorers were all their starters. Taylor Barrett was the final Pointer in double figures with 10, she shot 6-8 from the free throw line.
- From the field UW-Stevens Point shot 22-48 (45.8 percent) and 5-22 (22.7 percent) from downtown.

UW-River Falls will return home on January 18
th with a matchup with UW-La Crosse (8-7, 2-2 WIAC). The game will tip at 7 p.m.
