Box Score Menomonie, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – The UW-River Falls football team (3-3, 1-2 WIAC) played a tough UW-Stout team Saturday in the rain. The Falcons found themselves down 21-3 halfway through the 3
rd quarter before making a comeback, but Stout was able to run out the clock to hold on for a 21-16 WIAC victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST UW-STOUT
- UW-River Falls found themselves down 21-3 late in the third. A drive starting on the Stout 49 yard line changed things. A 7-yard run by Michael Diggins, followed by a 6-yard run by Travon Hearns put UW-River Falls at the Stout 36. Hearns then attempted a pass to Trenton Monson, but pass interference was called on Stout giving River Falls a first down at the Stout 21. Four plays later Michael Diggins powered in from a yard out for the Falcons first touchdown of the game.
- Halfway through the 4th quarter, River Falls struck quickly after a Stout turnover at their own 22 yard line. Back-to-back 11 yard runs by Michael Diggins resulted in his second touchdown of the game. With Angel Bautista's extra point good, Stout leads 21-16.
- In the rain, Michael Diggins grounded out 158 yards on 30 carries to lead the Falcons.
- Travon Hearns went 8-26 for 66 yards through the air with one interception.
- Michael Diggins was the leading receiver for the Falcons with 5 catches for 13 yards.
- Brandon McCarthy hauled in 1 pass for 36 yards, as the rain made it very hard to throw the ball.
- Max Praschak led the Falcon defense with 10 tackles.
- Michael Koch chipped in 7 tackles and a sack.
- Mitch Dienger had 6 tackles and an interception.
THE OPPOSITION
- Jay Alston was 10-21 passing for 183 yards and 3 TD's.
- Kevion McDonald hauled in 4 catches for 66 yards, and one TD.
- Bryan Sandifer had 3 catches for 55 yards, and 2 TD's.
- Rayshawn Graham powered the Blue Devil rushing attack with 100 yards on 19 carries.
- Nick Schulenburg led the defense with 11 tackles.
IN-DEPTH LOOK
- The UW-River Falls defense once again stepped up big holding UW-Stout to 53 yards rushing as a team. The 4th time this season they have held their opponent to under 100 yards rushing.
- The Falcon defense also did a great job in forcing turnovers. The Stout offense fumbled the ball 4 times, and River Falls recovered 2 of them, while also intercepting one pass.
- The rain played a factor for both teams on 3rd down. River Falls was 3 of 15 for the game, while Stout was 4 of 13.
LOOKING AHEAD
The Falcons return home this coming Saturday as the play host to UW-Whitewater. It is the Breast Cancer Awareness game with kickoff set for 12 PM.
