Football Ends Season at Home With Loss

RIVER FALLS, Wis.  (uwrfsports.com) – The UW-River Falls football team finished their season at home with a tough loss to UW-Lacrosse 56-7.  The Falcons outrushed the Eagles 192-114 but were not able to shut down the passing offense that had 470 yards on the day for six touchdowns.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Eagles scored a touchdown on their first drive when quarterback Drew David made a complete pass to Labellarte for 34 yards. 
  • The Falcons answered back with a 50 yard kick return by Janari Glover.
  • Michael Diggins started the drive with a three yard rush followed by an eight yard run that would give the Falcons a first down before quarterback Ben Beckman lost control of the ball and the Eagles would take possession of the fumble.
  • The Eagles started a 57 yard drive at 7:50 that would get them within 13 yards but kicker Michael Pako missed his field goal attempt.
  • The Falcons would start their drive at 5:06 with a 42 yard pass to Trenton Monson to get the Falcons on the UWL45.  The drive would finish with 66 yards and the Falcons would be stranded on the UWL 21. 
  • The Eagles responded on their next drive with a 75 yard pass that would result in an Eagle touchdown. 
  • The Eagles defense kept the Falcons to only 15 yards on the following drive before they would score again at 8:03 to bring the score to 21-0. 
  • On his second play of the Falcons drive, Ben Beckman's pass was intercepted by Luke Winnen and was ran for 22 yards for another Eagle touchdown. 
  • The Eagles scored again at 1:43 on a 19 yard pass to put the Eagles up 35-0.
  • With 14 seconds remaining in the first half the Eagle's quarterback Drew David threw for an eight yard touchdown.
  • The Eagles would start the second half with a 42-0 lead. 
  • Michael Diggins would give the Falcons their only touchdown at 00:26 in the third quarter on a 5 yard rush. 
  • On the first play of the 4th quarter David made a 35 yard pass for the Eagles 7th touchdown of the day. 
  • The Eagles would score the final touchdown of the afternoon at 2:15 in the fourth and take their lead to 56-7.
 
IN-DEPTH LOOK
  • Ben Beckman would start at quarterback for the Falcons, and he went 14-30 for 151 yards and a touchdown.
  • Michael Diggins rushed for 108 yards on 27 attempts, with one touchdown.
  • Trenton Monson led the receivers with 93 yards on four catches. 
 
THE OPPOSITION
  • Drew David went 19 of 31, for 432 yards and five touchdowns.
  • Nick Holcomb was the leading receiver with 11 catches for 253 yards.  He had five of the Eagles touchdowns.
  • D. Labellarte had five catches for 150 yards and had one touchdown.
  • Troy Bailey led the rushing attack with 52 yards on eight attempts.
