Women's Hockey Falls on the Road at Superior

Superior, Wis.  (uwrfsports.com) – The UW-River Falls women's hockey dropped a tough one on the road to the UW-Superior Yellowjackets, 3-1.  Madi Nolan scored the lone goal for the Falcons on the power play.

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST UW-SUPERIOR
  • The Falcons would jump out to a 1-0 lead on the power play when Madi Nolan found the back of the net with just over 5 minutes remaining in the first period. Nolan was assisted on the power play goal by Sam Young and Amy Auran.
  • The Yellowjackets would answer less than 2 minutes later when Kaylee Wood scored an unassisted goal to tie the game at 1.
  • Late in the second period Amy Auran would be called for interference and on the ensuing power play the Yellowjackets would take a 2-1 lead when Saige Patrick found the back of the net.
  • The Falcons pulled their goalie late in the third period but the Yellowjackets would score an empty net goal at the 19:27 mark of the third to seal the 3-1 victory.
  • The Falcons would outshoot the Yellowjackets 30-16 including 4 shots a piece from Hailey Herdine, Haley Nielson and Callie Hoff.
  • Angie Hall made 13 saves in net for the Falcons.
 
THE OPPOSITION
  • The Yellowjackets were led by Mikayla Goodin, who had a goal and an assist on the evening.
  • Sky Brown made 29 saves in net for the Yellowjackets.
 
LOOKING AHEAD
The Falcon women's hockey team returns to action Wednesday night when they travel to take on Gustavus Adolphus College.  The puck drops at 7 PM, St. Peter, MN.
