St. Peter, MN (uwrfsports.com) – The UW-River Falls women's hockey team dropped a tough one on the road to Gustavus Adolphus College in a match up of two top 10 ranked teams.
Carly Moran scored two goals for the Falcons and
Hailey Herdine added 3 assists, but it was enough as the Falcons fell 4-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Gusties would strike first just over 4 minutes into the first period when Amelia Vosen would beat Falcon goaltender Tatyana Delaittre to put the Gusties up 1-0.
- Both teams would exchange power plays half way through the first period with neither team finding the back of the net.
- The Falcons sustained some offensive zone pressure for the rest of the period outshooting the Gusties 7-2 in the period but the score at the end of the first period remained 1-0.
- The Falcons would come out flying in the second period tallying 11 shots on goal in the first 7 minutes of the period but could not tie the game at 1.
- The Gusties answered at the 8:16 mark of the period when Diana Draayer found the back of the net to put the Gusties up 2-0.
- The Falcons would cut the lead in half just over a minute later. Carly Moran would find the back of the net with her 12th goal of the season to bring the Falcons within 1. She was assisted on the goal by Callie Hoff and Hailey Herdine.
- The Falcons sustained pressure in the offensive end paid off with 2 consecutive penalties being called on the Gusties. The Falcons were unable to score on their first power play of the second period but were able to tie the game at the 15:40 mark of the period on their second power play, when Moran would score her second goal of the game and her 13th of the season to tie the game up at 2.
- The Falcons dominated the second period out shooting the Gusties 15-7 and entered the third period with the scored tied at 2.
- The Falcons once again started the third period with sustained pressure in the offensive end generating a couple of scoring chances before the Gusties were called for interference at the 5:34 mark of the period. Just over a minute into the power play the Gusties scored a short handed goal to take the lead back at 3-2.
- After the goal the Falcons once again controlled the game and tied the game up at 3 on Haley Nielsen's 5th goal of the season. She was assisted on the goal by Hailey Herdine.
- The Falcons would be called for two consecutive penalties late in the period including a too many men on the ice penalty at the 17:24 mark of the period. The Gusties would take advantage of the power play and score the game winning goal at the 18:05 mark to make the final score 4-3.
- The Falcons out shot the Gusties 33-16 on the night, and they were led by Callie Hoff with 7 and Carly Moran with 6. Hailey Herdine assisted on all 3 Falcon goals.
- Tatyana Delaittre made 12 saves in net for the Falcons.
THE OPPOSITION
- Amanda DiNella led the way for the Gusties by making 30 saves on the night.
- Diana Draayer tallied a hat trick for the Gusties including the game winning goal on the power play late in the third period.

The UW-River Falls women's hockey team returns home Saturday afternoon to play the second game of the series with Gustavus Adolphus. Puck drop is set for 2pm at Hunt Arena.
