HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Falcons opened the scoring at 5:51 of the 1st period, off the face-off David Landau ripped a shot past Evan Cline for a 1-0 lead.
  • Lawrence University went on the Power Play twice in the period, but were unable to convert as the Falcon penalty killers did a good job of not letting them set up.
  • A crushing hit by the Lawrence bench earned the Falcons a Power Play, but it was the Vikings converting. Zach Satalino broke up a UWRF rush, and went in on Michael Hughes alone. His shot found the back of the net, and tied the score at 1-1.
  • Halfway through the second period the Falcons would regain the lead when Cayden Cahill passed from behind the goal line out front to Jessie Brown who wristed a shot past Evan Cline glove side for his 1st of year, and a 2-1 Falcon lead.
  • UW-River Falls would add to their lead with just 32 seconds to go in the period on the Power Play.  Eddie Matsushima would score his 6th of the season, over Evan Cline's shoulder.
  • The Falcon offense continued the heavy shot load with 18 shots on Cline in the 2nd period, and Cline made 16 saves.
  • The offensive attack would continue in the 3rd period as Cayden Cahill skated in, pulled the puck back towards himself to allow the defenseman to go by, and beat Cline glove side for a 4-1 Falcon lead.
  • Michael Hughes would make 19 saves for the Falcons in net for his first victory of the season.

THE OPPOSITION
  • Evan Cline finished with 39 saves for the Vikings.
  • Zach Satalino scored the lone goal for the Vikings, a short handed goal in the 1st period.
