WHAT HAPPENED
- The Eagles outscored the Falcons in every quarter of the game, the Falcons led early on, but after a big run by UW-La Crosse, the Falcons only came within eight points the rest of the game.
- In the first few minutes UWRF and UW-La Crosse exchanged buckets, with UWRF up 12-11 with 3:35 to go in the first quarter. Kate Theisen scored five of the first 12 points for the Falcons.
- The Eagles finally broke the tight game with an 11-0 run at the end of the first quarter and into the start of the second quarter. UW-La Crosse went up by as much as 15 points in the second quarter.
- UW-River Falls had chances in the third quarter to make a comeback, but after pulling within eight points with 7:54 to go in the third, the Eagles went on a 7-0 to bring the lead back to 15 points.
- UW-La Crosse grew a lead as big as 19 points in the second half, which was at 54 seconds left in the game.
- Taylor Karge scored seven points in the second half to lead all Falcons scorers.
IN-DEPTH LOOK
- Theisen led UWRF with a total of 13 points on 5-7 shooting including 3-3 from the free throw line. She added five rebounds, all defensive.
- Karge scored 11 points for UWRF. She also had five rebounds, three of them coming on the offensive end.
- Taylor Paulsrud added eight points for UWRF on 3-5 shooting. She connected on two shots from downtown.
- From the floor, UW-River Falls shot 17-53 (32.1 percent) and had four shot fall from the three point line.
THE OPPOSITION
- MaKenzie Miller scored a game-high 27 points on 10-21 shooting from the floor. None of her shots came from outside the paint. She was also 7-8 from the free throw line. Miller also registered a double-double with 12 rebounds.
- Rachel Atchison scored 12 points off the bench for the Eagles. She was 4-5 from the floor and three of her shots were from the three point line. She also added three rebounds.
- From the field, UW-La Crosse shot 21-54 (38.9 percent) and sank six shots from the three point line. From the free throw line, the Eagles were 14-18 (77.8 percent) from the free throw line.
