Superior, Wis. (uwrfsports.com)- The UW-River Falls men's hockey team traveled to take on the Yellowjackets of UW-Superior on Friday night. The Falcons got goals from
Mike Fazio and
Aussie Miller while
Zach Quinn recorded his third shutout of the season to help the Falcons earn the 2-0 victory over the Yellowjackets. The Falcons have now won 4 straight games and 10 of their last 12.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Zach Quinn started in net for the Falcons and recorded 29Â saves en route to his third shutout of the season.Â
- Quinn and the Falcon penalty killers would be tested early in the first period when Mitchell Vanderburg was called for high sticking just 3 minutes into the game. The Falcons would not allow a shot on goal during the 2 minute power play for the Yellowjackets.
- Mike Fazio would put the Falcons on the board at the 10:51 mark of the period. The goal was Fazio's 6th of the season and he was assisted on the goal by Mike Dietrich.
- Less than 30 seconds after the Fazio goal the Falcons would go on the power play when Jordan Neduzak was called for boarding. The Falcons were unable to take advantage of the power play but still lead 1-0.Â
- The Falcons would get another power play late in the period when Viktor Sallhag was called for elbowing, but could not add to their lead.
- The first period ended with the Falcons up 1-0. The Falcons out shot the Yellowjackets 11-7 in the period.Â
- Zach Quinn and the Falcon penalty killers would be tested early in the 2nd period when Michael Lant was called for slashing at the 1:25 mark. The Yellowjackets got a couple of shots on net, including one that rang off the pipe, but Zach Quinn kept the puck out of the net to hole the one goal lead.
- The Falcons would go on the power play at the 4:11 mark of the period when Jordan Neduzak was called for tripping. The Falcons would get a couple shots on net during the power play but could not add to their lead.
- The Falcons would go on the power play at the 8:01 mark of the period when Cal Miska was called for goaltender interference. Mitch Kontny's shot on the power play rang off the post but the Falcons could not add to their lead.
- The Yellowjackets mounted some pressure at the end of the period but Zach Quinn was up to the challenge to keep the Falcons up 1-0 heading into the third.
- The third period began with the Falcons playing some great defensive hockey, getting the puck out of their zone and keeping the Yellowjackets from getting very few shots towards their net.
- The Falcons would be tested halfway through the period when Mason Van Tuyl was called for high sticking at the 9:31 mark. The Yellowjackets would only get one shot on net during the power play which Quinn stopped easily.
- Aussie Miller would put the Falcons up 2-0 with a nice move in the offensive zone to get past the defenseman by pulling the puck between his skates and then roofing a shot over the glove of the goaltender to the back of the net. The goal was Miller's third of the season and he was assisted on the goal by Mike Fazio.
- The Falcons would kill off one more late power play to get the victory 2-0.
- The Falcons out shot the Yellowjackets 30-29.Â
