HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Gustavus scored two third period goals, with both of them being on the power play. The game winner came at 16:07 on a goal from Kaitlyn Klein from Emily Gustafson and Diana Draayer.
  • The Gusties drew first blood with a goal at 6:27 in the first period. Allie Lewis beat Angie Hall with the goal assisted by Erica Power. At the end of the first period, Gustavus led 1-0 despite being outshot 12-4.
  • The Falcons would knot the game up in the second period when senior Emily Stark scored a goal right in front of the net. Her goal was assisted by fellow senior Dani Sibley, and the Falcons were back in the game midway through the second.
  • At the end of the second the momentum seemed to be on the Falcons side, and they headed into the third period on the power play.
  • The power play that carried over into the third period proved to be just what the Falcons needed. Hailey Herdine beat the Gusties goaltender to give the Falcons their first lead of the game just 32 seconds into the third period. She was assisted by Sibley and Haley Nielsen.
  • Just four minutes later the Gusties were able to tie the game up after a Falcon checking penalty. It took just six seconds of power play time for the Gusties to knot the game up at 2 with just over 15 minutes to go in the game.
  • The Falcons found themselves in a similar situation when a Falcon interference penalty was called and it was another quick power play Gutie goal, this time seven seconds, that lit the lamp again. The Gusties then led 3-2 with about four minutes to go.
  • Hall was called from her net for the final 59 seconds, and the Falcons attempted just one shot in the final seconds and were unable to tie the game up in time.
  • In her final game, Sibley led UWRF with seven shots on goal, and added two assists to her program-record total (38).
  • Hall finished the season 19-3 after the loss. She made 17 saves in the game.

THE OPPOSITION
  • The Gusties scored their three goals on 20 shots on goal. Erica Power, Laura Johnson, and Marina Chapman each had three shots on net to lead Gustavus.
  • Sophomore goaltender Amanda DiNella finished with 38 saves and sends the Gusties to the Frozen Four with her performance in the pipes.
