WHAT HAPPENED
  • It was Ali Krohn who had a masterful game at the plate. The Falcons scored four of their five runs when Krohn was at the plate. She finished with three RBIs to bring her team-leading total to eight. Her hitting streak has now hit 11 games.
  • UWRF started the game aggressive, a leadoff walk and a steal put Lexi Dupee in scoring position, but two straight ground outs and a fly ball caught in foul territory ended the Falcons early opportunity.
  • In the circle for UWRF was Payton Speckel. She was lights out after allowing the first batter to double, including back-to-back strikeouts in the second with a runner at second base.
  • The Falcons were the first to strike in the top of the third. It started with Murray singling to left field. She advance to third after a Dupee single. With two outs, Krohn stepped up and singled home Murray, giving the Falcons a 1-0 lead.
  • Subsequently Krohn stole second base, and then a passed ball brought Dupee home and gave UWRF a 2-0 lead.
  • UW-River Falls added another run in the top of the fifth inning. With the bases loaded, and only one out, Krohn chopped a grounder to the pitcher, scoring Dupee from third, giving the Falcons a 3-0 lead.
  • Speckel was lights out in the circle while the Falcons offense was building the lead. She did not allow a hit from the third to the fifth inning, she struck out three batters in that time to help the Falcons keep control.
  • The Falcons capped off their night in the top of the seventh. The first two batters reached on errors, then Dupee singled to left field, bringing in Murray.
  • Although Krohn was 1-4 from the plate, she finished her eventful night with another RBI groundout, which scored Dorn bringing the score to 5-0 in favor of UWRF.
  • In the bottom of the seventh, Washington and Jefferson had their rally caps on. They began the inning with a single, and two walks to load the bases with no outs.
