WHAT HAPPENED

  • In a rollercoaster game, the Falcons three run fifth inning was the difference with the three straight batters knocking in a run. Emma Steiner's RBI groundout was eventually the one run difference.

  • Stevens Point struck first in the top of the first. The Pointers were able to load the bases, and scored the opening run via a bases loaded walk.

  • UWRF took no time to respond. The Falcons quickly loaded the bases themselves, and an error by the Pointer shortstop led to the Falcons first run. Shannan Borchardt then gave the Falcons the lead via an RBI groundout.

  • The back and forth continued in the top of the second. After a single with two outs, the Pointers crushed a two-run homerun to left center field to retake the lead at 3-2.

  • Disaster was averted in the top of the third when Ali Murray turned a double play with a diving catch and a flip to second base. The Pointers would settle for one run to make it 4-2.

  • After the bases became loaded with three singles, junior Amber Galloway launched the Falcons first grand slam of the season to regain the lead 6-4.

  • UWSP would tie the game in the top of the fourth with a pair of runs. A pair of RBI doubles put the score at 6-6 with two and a half to play.

  • In the fifth, UWRF put up a huge inning scoring in three different ways. Borchardt brought one run with a single. Galloway added to her RBI total with an RBI double. Then Steiner polished it off with her RBI groundout.

  • The Pointers would close the gap in the sixth with a pair of runs. With a runner on third, Lexi Dupee snagged a liner to third base to keep the Falcons on top 9-8.

  • In the final inning, Payton Speckel focused in an struck out two Pointers, and forced a groundout to end the game, earning her fourth win of the season.
