Kari Rollo and
Abby Soderholm scored just over 90 seconds apart in the first half to lead the Falcons soccer team to a 5-1 victory over Minnesota-Morris. The win puts the UW-River Falls Soccer teams record at 2-3-0.
The Lady Falcons struck quickly just under 15 minutes into the game as
Kari Rollo took a pass from
Kayla Windingstad and scored her first goal of the season.
Just over 90 seconds later
Abby Soderholm took a pass from
Erika Lagoon, and beat Morris goaltender Megan Tschida from 25 feet out. It was Abby's second goal of the season for the Falcons. She also paced the offense with 12 shots, with 5 getting on net. The two goal stood up for the rest of the half.
The second half began where the first half left. Lots of shots from the UW-River Falls Soccer team, and it didn't take long for one of them to find the back of the net.
Lindsey Jack's shot from 35 feet out found its way into the net for a 3-0 River Falls lead. The goal was Lindsey's first of the season.
Seven minutes later
Kayla Windingstad took a pass from
Abby Soderholm, and scored her first goal of the season.
UW-River Falls final goal came off the foot of
Mariah Troje on a Penalty Kick in the 64th minute. Her first of the season.
Minnesota-Morris's lone goal would come from Megan Ellingboe 1:16 later off a corner kick.
Abby Soderholm and
Kayla Windingstad both had 2 points in the contest, a goal and assist each.
UW-River Falls is on the road again this Sunday against the College of Saint Benedict in St. Joseph, Minnesota. Game time is set for 1 PM.
