RIPON, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – The UW-River Falls women's volleyball team went 2-1 this past weekend at the Red Hawk Invite. On day one, the Falcons fell to host Ripon College 0-3 (18-25, 21-25, 23-25). They came back day two winning both matches defeating Simpson College 3-2 (25-22, 16-25, 25-22, 22-25, 15-8) and shutting out Finlandia (25-21, 25-17, 25-19).

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST RIPON
- The Falcons struggled offensively to against the Red Hawks only hitting .102 (34-23-108) in three sets.
- Dakotah Poitra, Amara Meyer and Hannah Striggow each had seven kills for the Falcons.
- Striggow had the highest hitting percentage for the Falcons hitting .227.
- Mallory Griffin led the Falcons defensively with 13 digs

- The Red Hawks hit .245 as a team and hit .303 in the second set.
- Emily Allard and Jonalee Elliott each had 11 kills

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST SIMPSON
- The Falcons saw an improvement offensively in day two of the Red Hawk Invite hitting .200 (54-28-130).
- The Falcons hit an impressive .407 in the third set where they won 25-22.
- Amara Meyer led the offense with 12 kills. Samantha Garvin and Savannah Brauer each had nine kills. Garvin hit .438
- Garvin and Meyer also each had four blocks.
- Hannah Robb had a match high 25 digs.
THE OPPOSITION
- Simpson hit .169 and were let be Jacque Luth who had 16 kills.
- Luth also led the Storm defensively with 14 digs.

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST FINLANDIA
- The Falcons swept the Lions in three sets (25-21, 25-17, 25-19) picking up a three set shutout in the final match of the day.
- The Falcons hit a weekend best .261 (39-15-92).
- Sam Garvin led the Falcons with 12 kills. She also recorded nine blocks.
- Mallory Griffin ran the offense having 20 assists.
- Karli Nielsen had an impressive 11 blocks.
THE OPPOSITION
- The Lions were led by Makayla Mickam with eight kills.
- Jessie Diaz had 19 digs.

- The Falcons return home to host UW-La Crosse Wednesday evening at 7 p.m.
