Stevens Point, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – The UW-River Falls women's hockey team traveled to Stevens Point, Wisconsin to play the second game of a weekend series with the Pointers on Saturday afternoon. Freshman
Callie Hoff had a career day, scoring 4 goals and adding an assist to lead the Falcons to a 6-2 win over the Pointers.
Haley Nielsen tallied a goal and two assists, while
Carly Moran had three assists on the afternoon for the Falcons.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Callie Hoff got the Falcon offense started early in the first period when she found the back of the net at the 4:01 mark of the period to put the Falcons up 1-0. Erica Schramel and Haley Nielsen assisted on the goal.
- After the goal, the Falcon penalty killers had to go to work killing off two straight Pointer power plays, before the Falcons would go on one of their own late in the period. The Falcons only yielded 4 shots on goal on the two power plays and goaltender Angie Hall stopped them all.
- The first period ended with the Falcons having a 1-0 lead and out shooting the Pointers 12-9.
- The second period began with the Falcons having left over power play time from the first period. 21 seconds into the period Haley Nielsen blasted a shot to the back of the net to put the Falcons up 2-0. Erica Schramel picked up her second assist of the afternoon on the goal.
- At the 4:05 mark of the period the Falcons would be called for another penalty. This time the Pointers would take advantage of the power play and cut the Falcon lead in half at 2-1.
- The Pointers would answer again just 2 minutes later at the 6:43 mark of the period when Ali Biagini would find the back of the net to tie the game at 2.
- The two teams would exchange power plays at the half way point of the period, but during the Pointers' power play they would be called for a penalty, leading to some 4 on 4 hockey and giving the Falcons an abbreviated power play just after the 11 minute mark in the period. The Falcons would need all of 8 seconds of the man advantage when Hailey Herdine found the back of the net to put the Falcons up 3-2. She was assisted on the goal by Callie Hoff and Carly Moran.
- After the Falcons took the 1 goal lead, they would have consecutive penalties called on them. The Falcons were able to kill off the first penalty, but on the second one they went on the offensive.
- Callie Hoff would score a short-handed goal to put the Falcons up 4-2. The goal was her second of the game and she was assisted on the goal by Carly Moran and Haley Nielsen.
- The Falcons would kill off the rest of the penalty and the 2nd period ended with the Falcons keeping their 2 goal lead.
- Callie Hoff and the Falcons would put the game out of reach on a pair of Hoff's goals in the third period.
- Hoff's first goal came just over the 5 minute mark of the period to put the Falcons up 5-2, and earn her first career hat trick as a Falcon.
- Hoff was not done with just a hat trick, she scored her 4th goal of the game to put the Falcons up 6-2.
- Hoff with 4 goals and an assist had 5 points in the game for the Falcons. Carly Moran added 3 assists and Haley Nielsen added a goal and two assists.
- Angie Hall made 19 saves in net for the Falcons for the win.

- Sydney Conley made 25 saves in net for the Pointers.
