RIVER FALLS Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – The UW-River Falls women's basketball team suffered a 52-86 loss to UW-Eau Claire Wednesday night at Page Arena.

WHAT HAPPENED
- The two teams struggled to get on the board as two minutes passed before either team scored.
- The Blugolds dominated the Falcons in the first quarter outscoring them 22-2. Taylor Karge made the only Falcons points in the first quarter on layup at the 7:04 mark.
- The Blugolds continued their dominance into the second quarter extending their lead to as much as
- At the halftime break, the Falcons trailed the Blugolds 17-45.
- The Blugolds started the second half with an 8-2 run to put them up 34 points their largest difference of the night. The Falcons came with their own eight point run that got them within 26 points.
- The two teams traded points in the fourth quarter but the Blugolds held the Falcons off and took the 86-52 win.
IN-DEPTH LOOK
- Brynn Liljander had 13 points on the night from 5-20 shooting. She was 2-2 from the line and added six rebounds and three steals.
- Jaycie Gerding was 4-6 from the floor and made two threes for ten points.
- As a team, UWRF was 20-63 (31.7 percent). The Falcons were 8-14 (57.1 percent) at the line.
THE OPPOSITION
- The Blugolds had five players in double digit points. They were led by Kelsey Bakken who had 23 points on 10-15 shooting. She was 3-4 from the free throw line and added nine rebounds.
- Anna Graaskamp was 8-15 from the floor for 18 points. She was 2-4 from the charity stripe and had seven rebounds.
- Kayla Hanley scored 12 points on 4-6 shooting. She made two shots beyond the arc and added five rebounds.
- Hallee Hoeppner and Katie Essen each had 10 points on the night. Hoeppner was 4-8 from the floor and made two shots beyond the arc. Essen came off the bench shooting 5-10.
- The Blugolds shot 34-65 (52.3 percent) from the floor and were 11-16 (68.8 percent) from the charity stripe. They made seven shots from downtown.
LOOKING AHEAD
The Falcons who are now 14-4 on the season start the second part of the WIAC season as they travel to take on the Titans of UW-Oshkosh Saturday afternoon. Earlier this season the Titans defeated the Falcons 69-62.
