Superior, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – The UW-River Falls women's hockey team traveled to take on UW-Superior in the second game of their weekend series on Saturday afternoon.
Hailey Herdine and
Carly Moran each tallied a goal and an assist and that was more than enough as Tatyana Delaittre made 11 saves in net to record her third shutout of the season as the Falcons rolled to a 5-0 victory over the Yellowjackets.

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST UW-SUPERIOR
- The Falcons would carry most of the play in the early part of the first period and their pressure paid off at the 7:54 mark of the period when the Yellowjackets wer called for the first penalty of the game. The Falcons would sustain pressure on the power play but could not find the back of the net.
- After the power play the Falcons continued to carry the play but could not beat the Yellowjacket goaltender and the first period ended with the score tied at 0. The Falcons out shot the Yellowjackets 7-2 in the period.
- Sam Young would get the Falcons on the board just 47 seconds into the second period. The goal was her 7th of the season and she was assisted on the goal by Callie Hoff and Carly Moran.
- After going up 1-0 the Falcons would continue to pressure in the offensive end. The pressure would pay off again with the Yellowjackets being called for tripping just over the 3 minute mark of the period. The Falcons generated 5 shots on goal during the power play but could not increase their lead to 2.
- The Falcons did not have to wait long to get their 2 goal lead, just over 2 minutes after the power play Kora Torkelson found the back of the net to put the Falcons up 2-0. She was assisted on the goal by Hailey Herdine.
- Carly Moran would put the Falcons up 3-0 on their 3rd goal of the period and her 20th of the season around the 14 minute mark of the period.
- The Falcons finished the second period with a 3-0 lead. The Falcons out shot the Yellow Jackets 13-2.
- The Falcons would leave no doubt scoring two more goals in the third period to put the game away.
- Hailey Herdine found the back of the net at the 1:10 mark of the period to put the Falcons up 4-0. She was assisted on the goal by Kora Torkelson.
- The Falcons would go on the power play just after going up 4-0 at the 1:34 mark of the period. The Falcons would need all of 17 seconds of the power play before Payton Rudiger found the back of the net to put the Falcons up 5-0.
- The Falcons would dominate the rest of the period to shut out the Yellowjackets 5-0.
- Tatyana Delaittre stopped all 11 shots she faced to get her third career shutout.
THE OPPOSITION
- Jenna Curtis won 7 of 11 face offs for the Yellowjackets.
