Maggie Koehler's hat trick propelled the Falcons to a 4-0 win on the road at Lawrence University on Wednesday.
Alivia Kons started her first game in goal for UW-River Falls and made three saves and allowed no goals against the winless Vikings.
The Falcons were the more aggressive team early by firing nine shots in the first half and forcing four saves from Claire Vinopal. UWRF struck first in the 43rd minute when Koehler took a pass from
Rachel Windingstad to put the Falcons up 1-0 entering halftime. The assist was Windingstad's third of the year, and Koehler added her sixth goal of the season.
Koehler would score her seventh and eighth goal of the year in the 51st and 76th minute to blow the game wide open and allow the Falcons to cruise to the end.
Jadelyn Hunn added her third goal of the season in the 89th minute on an assist from
Kari Rollo to close out the Vikings and record the team's fourth shutout of the season.
The Falcons outshot Lawrence 20-4 in the game, including 11-1 in the second half. Third-string goalie Kons picked up her first win of the season and hasn't allowed a goal in 135 minutes of action. UWRF is now 9-4-1 and will host WIAC leaders UW-La Crosse at home on Saturday at 4 p.m. The Eagles are 3-0 in the WIAC this season and 10-2-1 overall.
