RIVER FALLS, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) - UW-River Falls was held scoreless for the fourth time in their last five games after a 1-0 loss to St. Scholastica on Wednesday afternoon. Becca Rancour scored on the first shot of the day for the Saints when she out-battled her defender to score past
Amanda LaDue in the 10th minute.
Maggie Koehler and
Mariah Troje both forced saves from St. Scholastica's goalie Roni Rudolph, but the teams both finished with five shots in the first half.
The Falcons found four shots on goal in the second half, including two shots from
Peri Hoff. However, Rudolph held on to pick up the win and take down the Falcons in their last nonconference game of the regular season. UWRF had seven corner kicks compared to zero for the Saints, and both teams committed seven fouls. They also outshot St. Scholastica 11-9 overall.
The loss drops UWRF to 9-6-1 overall and 2-2 in the WIAC, where the Falcons sit in fourth place. They will take on UW-Oshkosh (2-2 WIAC) at 7 p.m. on Saturday to try to bounce back from a 3-2 loss in the WIAC Playoffs in Oshkosh last season.
