RIVER FALLS, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – The No. 8 UW-River Falls women's hockey started out their season with a top ten showdown against No. 6 Adrian College Saturday afternoon at Page Arena. The Falcons fell 3-4 in overtime on a last second shot by the Bulldogs.

What Happened:
- Adrian put the pressure on right away having three shots on goal to start out the game.
- Adrian scored their first goal of the afternoon at 14:26 in the first period. Kenzie D'Ascenzo was able to tap one in on a pass from Jacqueline White in front of the goal.
- The Falcons had a power play opportunity thirty seconds after the Bulldog goal but were unable to get a shot on and take advantage.
- At 18:20 Jessie Anderson scored on a pass by Erin Olson to tie the game up 1-1 in the first period.
- The Falcons started the second half with a power play opportunity after Von Ruden was called for hooking in the final second of the first period. The Falcons applied the offensive pressure putting up three shots on goal but the Bulldog goal tender was too strong.
- Adrian scored their second goal at 12:27 by Brooke Schembri. The Falcons answered back ten seconds later with their own goal by Hailey Herdine. She was assisted on the play by Sophia Leong and Izzy Brosseau.
- The Falcons took their first lead of the game in the third period when Abigail Stow found the back of the net at 14:54. She was assisted on the play by Ashley Effertz.
- Three minutes later Adrian tied it up 3-3 when Julia Barrett shot one in.
- In the overtime period, the Falcons got aggressive on the offensive attach getting three shots on goal and missing three wide.
- Kiana Gilbraith was called for checking at 4:06 and the Bulldogs had a power play opportunity. With one second remaining in the period VonRuden took the only shot of the period for the Bulldogs and was able to sneak it over the shoulder of Tatyana Delaittre to score the game winning goal.
- Tatyana Delaittre made 22 saves and gave up four goals in the Falcon loss.
THE OPPOSITION
- Jessica VonRuden had a goal and three shots on goal for the Bulldogs. She had the game winning last second shot.
- Kate Turner finished with 19 saves in the Bulldog victory.
LOOKING AHEAD
The Falcons will seek redemption Sunday afternoon at 2:05 pm against the Bulldogs.
