STEVENS POINT, Wis. (uwrfsport.com) – The UW-River Falls women's hockey team opened its WIAC conference play with a 5-0 shutout over UW-Stevens Point on the road Saturday afternoon.

THE RECAP
First Period
- The Falcons jumped out to an early lead in the first period scoring at 1:26. Kora Torkelson found the back of the net on a pass from Erica Schramel and Andrea Olson.
- Torkelson found herself an opportunity to score again at 5:13. This time she was unassisted on the goal.
- Following the goal the Falcons got their first power play opportunity of the night when the Pointers were called for hooking.
- The Falcons had two shots on goal but were unable to capitalize on the play.
- At the end of the first period the Falcons led 2-0 and outshot the Pointers 12-4.
Second Period
- Sixteen second into the second period the Pointers were given a two minute penalty for tripping and the Falcons got their second power play opportunity of the afternoon. Again the Falcons had two shots on goal but were unable to find the back of the net.
- At 13:31 Alex Grubbs of UWSP was called for boarding and the Falcons went on the power play attack.
- Bella Wagner was finally able to capitalize on the shorthanded opportunity and scored a goal at 15:13. She was assisted on the play by Kathryn Larson and Izzy Brosseau.
- The Falcons took a 4-0 after Callie Hoff scored. She was assisted on the play by Kathryn Larson and Bella Wagner.
- Score at the end of the second period: UW-River Falls 4, Stevens Point 0.
Third Period
- The Pointers got their first and power play opportunity at 1:24 when Abigail Stow was called for holding. They were able to put one shot on goal but that was all the Falcon defense would allow.
- With 30 seconds left in the game Reilly Springman scored an unassisted goal to give the Falcons the 5-0 win.

QUICK HITS:
- Bella Wagner had two points in the game with her goal and assist.
- Tatyana Delaittre got the win in goal with 11 saves. Sydney Conley took the loss giving up four goals in forty minutes of play. She had 19 saves total.
