Falcons Score Eight In Win Over Bethel

RIVER FALLS, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – The UW-River Falls women's hockey team had its highest scoring game this season defeating Bethel University 8-2 Tuesday night at Hunt Arena. 
 
The Falcons scored four goals in the first period.  The first came at 6:33 when Jamie Bird found the back of the net on a pass from Reilly Springman and Andrea Olson.  Five minutes later, Kiana Gilbraith scored her first goal of the season.  She was assisted on the play by Andrea Olson and Madi NolanCallie Hoff tapped one in at 13:00 to give the Falcons a 3-0 lead with seven minutes left in the first period.  She was assisted on the play by Erin Olson and Julia Stelljes.  Jessie Anderson scored the final goal of the period at 15:57 when she got a pass from Jessica Bid and Sam Young.
 
In the second period, it took the Falcons five minutes before they scored their fifth goal.  Bella Wagner scored her first goal of the night on an assist from Erica Schramel.  At 6:52, the Royals were called for tripping and the Falcons went on the power play attack.  However it was the Royals who capitalized scoring a shot handed goal at 7:57.  The Falcons answered back with two more goals in the period.  The first was a goal by Jessica Bird at 12:42 and then a goal by Kathryn Larson at 14:08.
 
Heading into the third period the Falcons led 7-1.  They scored one more goal at 14:31 when Ashley Effertz scored an unassisted goal.  The Royals did score an additional goal in the third at 13:38 by Kaylyn Forliti. 
 
Overall the Falcons had 51 shots on goal.  Sami Miller got her second win of the season. She had 16 total saves and only gave up two goals. 
 
The Falcons travel to UW-Eau Claire Nov. 17th to take on the Blugolds. The No. 8 Blugolds are coming off their best season in program history and are currently 3-1-1 on the year.
